Parents of the Palace:

The mission of the Parents of the Palace (POPs) is to enhance the educational and recreational experience of its youth by serving as a Volunteer Parent Support Organization dedicated to helping PYT by creating and executing fundraising opportunities throughout the community.

As an addition to our already thriving program, we have established a volunteer parent support group, known as POPs. The primary mission of this group is fundraising to help build revenue for the Palace Youth Theatre which will allow us to reduce the cost of production fees for parents as well as provide more opportunities for the students involved in PYT. Comprised of many parents volunteering to work on specific fundraising projects, the group will have at least three PYT fundraising events developing at all times. In the future, this group will also be involved in assisting with the organization of educational field trips to New York and Boston to see professional theatre productions. They will also assist in producing educational and fun events for the students involved in PYT. This group is open to any and all parents who wish to be involved in their child's theatrical education and experience. Parents may join at any point throughout the year. This group has no responsibilities or decision-making abilities regarding any artistic aspects of PYT.

In the 2005-2006 season, POPs organized several successful fundraisers including bake sales, 50/50 raffles, candy-grams and a silent auction. These fundraising events assisted PYT in many ways including the opportunity for us to offer scholarships to departing seniors to assist them in college. Possible events for the 2006-2007 season include bowl-a-thons, walk-a-thons, car washes, ice cream socials, spaghetti dinners, cabarets and more! We have many more goals for PYT's growth, but we need your help! Please contact Nancy Kane, Director of Development nancykane@palacetheatre.org or Wally Calderon, Artistic Director of the Palace Youth Theatre pyt@palacetheatre.org if you would like to be involved.
