Kasich to celebrate the First Amendment and those who exemplify it in New
Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who is considering challenging
President Trump in 2020, will be the featured speaker at the Nackey S. Loeb
School of Communications 16th annual First Amendment Awards event on Nov 15.
The event honors First Amendment freedoms and New Hampshire residents or
organizations, nominated by the public, who work to protect free speech and
This year’s First Amendment Award recipient is Robert
Azzi of Exeter, a columnist and speaker who crisscrosses New Hampshire to
promote civility and public awareness about Muslims. He has presented his program, “Ask a Muslim Anything,” at more than 50
public events and forums around the state, where he works to encourage
tolerance, understanding and interfaith discussion.
The 16th annual event supports the non-profit Nackey S. Loeb
School of Communications, where media and business professionals from around
New Hampshire teach free classes and low-cost workshops on the First Amendment,
writing, photography, social media and other communications topics.
The event will honor a New Hampshire individual or group who went above and
beyond in 2018 to protect or embody the rights guaranteed in the First
Amendment. The recipient will be announced this fall.
