Palace Theatre

What is the Palace Teen Company and how can my child get involved?
The Palace Teen Company is an audition-only group of thirty students ages 13-18 under the direction of the Palace Professional Department. This company is designed to train teenage students who are dedicated to their involvement in musical theatre. The schedule is comprised of two four-month semesters with auditions prior to each semester. (Join our audition email club to be notified of auditions.) Fall Semester runs August through November and Spring Semester runs February through May. Company members attend a weekly 1½ hour theatre dance class every Saturday morning taught by a guest professional. Additional workshops are scheduled throughout each semester covering various musical theatre related topics.

When are auditions held for Palace Youth Theatre and Palace Teen Company?
Teen Company auditions are held twice a year before each semester. Palace Youth Theatre auditions are held for all shows, both Youth and Teen, prior to each show. Please join our email list to be notified of any upcoming auditions.

What does my child need to prepare for Teen Company/PYT auditions?
For Palace Teen Company and PYT, your child will need to prepare a song that best shows his or her voice. Please bring clearly marked sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. Also, your child will be asked to perform a short dance combination, so he or she should come prepared with appropriate dance attire and shoes. For Palace Teen Company, teenagers are also asked to prepare a one-minute monologue.

What are production fees and what do they cover?
Production fees are required for all PYT shows to offset the cost of materials including script/score rentals, costumes, and props among other things.

How often will my child have to attend rehearsal for a PYT show?
PYT generally rehearses two to three times per week in the evenings and weekends for five to seven weeks. During tech week (final week before the show opens), students are generally called to rehearsal every night from 5 – 9 p.m. A detailed rehearsal schedule is provided at the first rehearsal for each production.
